Day

Indian School Ibri celebrated its 34th Annual Day on 4th May 2023, with great enthusiasm and pride.  The theme of the celebration was “Brotherhood”.

The highlights of the annual day celebrations was the inaugural ceremony of Language Lab, Digital Library, 3d Lab, laying the foundation stone for a refurbished playground, upgraded Sports and Games facilities and a facelift to the auditorium by the Chief Guest H E Najeeb Ali Ahmed Al-Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, Sultanate of Oman

The state of the language lab was installed as it was felt that it was a dire necessity for the students to up-skill their language curve. The acute requirements of the day is the Digital Lab leading the school towards a more modernized form of learning and introducing the students to future career options. The progress of the school could be seen in the installation of the 3D Lab, is the much-needed concept in the present scenario. It was felt that a modern playground was needed to accommodate the growing demands of the new generation and the required amenities were attached so that students could enjoy modern games. A facelift to the auditorium is needed to maximise the sound and lighting experience, a visual treat for the students.

H E Najeeb Ali Ahmed Al-Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, Sultanate of Oman graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Irshad Ahmad, Counsellor (Labour and Community Welfare) Embassy of India, Muscat, Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, Chairman, BOD of Indian Schools in the Sultanate of Oman were the Guests of honour; the special guest was Mrs. Ashwini. S Sawrikar, Finance Director & DIC, BOD (Indian Schools in the Sultanate of Oman) and the other guests were Mr. Vinoba M.P the Educational Advisor cum Senior Principal, BoD, Officers from the various Ministries, Mr. T.S. Daniel & Dr. Thomas Varghese, the former Presidents of the SMC, Mr. Firoz Hussain, Mr. Unnikrishnan M P and Dr. Suresh Balakrishnan the former members of the SMC, Mr. Santha Kumar  Principal of Indian School Al Burami, Mr. Praveen Kumar the Principal of Indian school Muladha, Mr. Naveen Vijayakumar, the President of the SMC, Dr. Vijay Shanmugam, Vice President of SMC, Dr. R. Pugalarasu Treasurer, Dr. Amitabh Mishra Chairperson HSE ,Mr. Feslin Anish Mon (Chairperson: Academic and IT Sub Committee) other dignitaries, staff, parents and students were also present on the occasion. The dignitaries were honoured with a guard of honour by the prefects and vice prefects led by the Head Boy, Master Aekaksh Poonia and the Head Girl, Ms. Eshmal Anjum. The auspicious event commenced with the Royal Anthem of Oman followed by the National Anthem of India. It was followed by the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the Chief Guest, Guests of honour and the specials guest.

The President of the SMC, Mr. Naveen Vijayakumar welcomed the gathering. In his welcome address he expressed his gratitude to parents, students, teachers and all   well-wishers and finally congratulated all the students on their achievements. Following him, the Principal, Mr. V.S. Suresh, presented the school’s Annual Report, which traced the long strides and significant progress, highlighting the school’s achievement in scholastic and co-scholastic fields. He also appreciated the teachers for their unconditional dedication and hard work. He thanked the chairman, members of the board for their support. Moreover, he thanked the |SMC for their enthusiasm, support and commitment for launching the new Language Lab, 3D Lab and Digital Library; he also expressed his sincere gratitude to all the former presidents for their valuable contributions to the smooth functioning of the school. Finally, he wholeheartedly thanked the Chief Guest, guests of honour and all the other dignitaries for their gracious presence despite their busy schedules. Following him, the Chief Guest in his speech appreciated all the students for doing well in the academics and thanked the school for inviting him to be the chief Guest and finally, he wished all the students with a prosperous future. Next, Mr. Irshad Ahmad, the Counsellor, Embassy of India, Muscat, appreciated how the school has developed in leaps and bounds in terms of logistics, academics, sports and infrastructure and thanked the past and present committee members for their efforts. Moreover, he appreciated the students for their success in academic and non-academic activities from the bottom of his heart. Following him, Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, Chairman, BoD felt the pleasure of taking part in the school’s 34th Annual Day celebration. He pointed out the generosity of the Oman people in giving space to work in their country. He urged the students to learn new things each day and update their skills in learning new things without hesitation.

A multimedia presentation titled ‘Glimpses of the school Activities’ regarding all curricular and co-curricular activities held in the school during the academic year 2022-2023 was screened in the auditorium.

The new ERP was virtually launched by the Chief Guest His Excellency Najeeb Ali Ahmed Al Rawas; LMS was launched by the guest of honour Mr. Irshad Ahmed. To keep parents update with school news and notices the school Newsletter “Apogee” was released by the guest of honour, Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, the Chairman, BoD. Indian Schools in the Sultanate of Oman.

Later on, the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour and the  Special Guest distributed the meritorious students with cash prize, medals and certificates for their achievements in academic and non–academic areas. Master Naveen Kumar secured the first position in the CBSE class XII examination conducted in March 2021; Angelina Aishwarya secured the second position and Gayathree Bala secured the third position. Ms. Sofia Susan Thomas secured the first position in class X CBSE examination, Ms. Alisha Bukhari and Master Viswa R shared the second position; Master Kishore Balaji secured the third position; Master Yadhukrishna Sudhan secured the subject topper in Malayalam. Miss Axel secured the first position in class XII CBSE examination held in March 2022; Master Asif Nazeer secured the second position; third position by Ms. Ardra Bijulal; Ms. Vanshika Jain secured the highest for Informatics Practices; Master Abdullah Al Mamun secured the highest for informatics practices. Ms. Milan Krishna secured  the first position in the class X CBSE examination 2022; Ms. Shirley Grace Naveen Vijayakumar and Udyani Ashinsa shared the second position; Master Mohammed Aadhil secured the third position; Master Pranav Raj scored the highest for Malayalam. The Oman Al Khair Hospital Academic Excellence Award of Achievement instituted by Dr. R.R Nair, the founder and former president of the SMC, for the top scorer in the CBSE XII Exam, which includes a memento and cash award was awarded to Master Naveen Kumar for the year 2021; Ms. Axel Maria for the topper in the CBSE examination in 2022. Master Naveen Kumar received the award for excellence in Mathematics; The Late Sri Gali Kotiswamy Academic Excellence Award for Biology was awarded to Ms. Angelina Aishwarya Ezhilarasi for securing the highest score in Biology; The Late Sri Gali Kotiswamy Academic Award for Mathematics for the year 2022 was awarded to Axel Maria; Ms. Ardra Bijulal for securing the highest score in Biology; Yem Pee Vee’s all-round excellence award was awarded to Mast. Levin R Macedo for the year 2020 – 21 for his all round excellence and Ms. Axel Maria Petrina for her all round excellence during the academic year 2021-22; Master Muhammed Ibrahim Abbas for securing first place  in shot put and second place in javelin throw under 19 category; Ms. Zaina Fathima Fida Mohammed of class IX for securing first place in High Jump ; Master Mohammad Saim of class XI for securing the second place in Javelin throw.

The former School Management Committee members DR. Thomas Varghese, Mr. UnniKrishnan M P, Mr. Firoz Hussain and Dr. Suresh Balakrishnan received  memento from Mrs. Ashwini S Sawrikar for their constant support and guidance; Mr. Sunny Mathew, the Vice principal in recognition of twenty five years of dedicated service ;Mr. K R Thomas & Mr. K.V Rajeev, the  supporting staff for their twenty years of committed service; Mr. Vidhyadhar Dubey; Mr. Vijayakumar Dominic were awarded for their fifteen years of dedicated service; Mr. Arun Kumar CB for his ten years of his dedicated service; Mr. Unnikrishnan K, MS. Moza Musabah Al  Yaqoubi, Mrs. Zainab Salim Al Yaqoubi, Mrs. Mahizha Jesurajan and Mrs. Hema VijayaKumar were awarded in recognition for their ten years of dedicated service. Mrs.Vineetha Renjith and Mrs. Vidhya T M received  the award from Mrs. Ashwini for being the exceptional teachers of Term 1 & Term 2 respectively. Mr. M.P Vinoba give away the following awards for their special achievements: Mrs. Sheenabai and Mr. Sam Mathews received the awards for their innovation in teaching practices, Mr. Suneeshlal received the award  for his extraordinary efforts in training students to secure centum in mathematics, Mr. Biju Das for training students for their outstanding performance in CBSE Oman Cluster Athletic Meet and Mrs. Zainab Salim Al Yaqoubi  for her sincere and constant support for the smooth functioning of the school. Mr. Sunny Mathew the Vice Principal, Mr. Vinup V. Pathrose, Mr. Vijayakumar Dominic, Mrs. Nirmala Kumary and Mr. K.R. Thomas received the awards for their unrelenting dedication with 100 percent attendance.

Mrs. Hema Vijayakumar, the class teacher of grade II A along with the class representatives; Mrs. Mincy Santhosh, the class teacher of VI A along with the class representatives and Mr. Sam Mathews, the class teacher of IX B along with the class representatives, received the awards from the Chief Guest for the best class of the academic year 2022-23. The runner-up and overall trophy for the academic year 2022-23 was clinched by the Red House and the overall trophy was lifted up by the Blue House for the academic year 2022-23.

The chief Guest, the Guests of Honour and the Special Guest were felicitated  at the function with mementos as a token of love. Mr. Jamal Hassan, the convenor SMC proposed the vote of thanks.

The cultural program was tremendous, with a variety of colourful items. The audience marveled at some of the dancing steps. The theme brotherhood was portrayed through various performances presented by the students. The theme was conceptualized through different dances such as Merawala dance, Jugalbandhi, etc. Dance such as boys’ fusion dance, mime, and pop dance left the audience fascinated and won many ovations and appreciation of one and all. The celebrations ended on an optimistic note insinuating the audience to work towards establishing brotherhood to all humanity and making the world a better place to dwell. Ms. Shirley Grace Naveen Vijayakumar, Ms. Milan Krishna, Ms. Eshmal Anjum, Ms. Choyei Shambu Nath, Ms. Filza Fathima, and Master Han Frano Blessing compered the programme in a very titillating manner, which added spice and flavour to the show.


The Investiture Ceremony of the Indian School Ibri was the red-letter event held at the school auditorium with pompous solemnity on 19th April 2023. The ceremony signifies the school’s reliance on and confidence in the new office bearers. The Principal, Mr. Suresh V.S., presided over the function accompanied by the Chief Guest, Mr. Naveen Vijayakumar; the Acting President of the SMC, Dr. Vijay
Shanmugam; the Vice President, Mr. Jamal Hassan; the Convenor, Mr. Feslin Anishmon; the Academic Chairperson and Dr. Amitabh Mishra; HSE Chairperson, graced the occasion. The prayer song by the school choir began the advent of the ceremonial march past of the office bearers of the student council. Mrs. Mahizha R, the Activity Coordinator, delivered the welcome address and invited the Chief
Guest, Mr. Naveen Vijayakumar, the Acting President of the SMC, to administer the badges of honour and the school flag to the Head Boy, Aekaksh Dev Poonia and the Head Girl, Eshmal Anjum with an ordinance of instituting the duties and responsibilities of the student council.
Dr. Vijay Shanmugam, the Vice President of the SMC, administered the badges to the Deputy Head Boy, Aditya Kukreti and the Deputy Head Girl, Zoya Seba Khan. Mr. Jamal Hassan, the Convenor, conferred the badges to the Sports Captains, Mohammed Saim and Zaina Fathima Fidha Mohamed. Mr. Feslin Anishmon, the SMC Academic Chairperson, administered the badge to the Literary Coordinator,
Shirley Grace and Dr. Amitabh Mishra, HSE Chairperson, conferred the badge to Nivedya Devadas, the Deputy Literary Coordinator. Following this, the Prefects, Vice Prefects and the Executive Members of the four houses were conferred with their sashes, badges and flags by their respective house masters/mistresses, tutors and house in-charge teachers. The student council took the oath read out by the Principal that accounted the leadership responsibilities. Mr. Sunny Mathew, the Vice Principal, stressed the significant role of a leader in his felicitation speech by quoting the maxim, ‘A leader is a person who knows the way, shows the way and goes the way’. He congratulated and motivated the newly
elected leaders to passionately pursue their responsibilities. The ceremonial program culminated with the vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Beena C, a teaching faculty who expressed her gratitude to all those who attended the program. The solemn and grand ceremony ended with the singing of the national anthem.
