Indian School Ibri celebrated its 27th Arts Festival with glitz and glamour in the school auditorium on the 26th of October 2019.The Arts Festival, the festival of talents’ aims to bring out the dormant talents of students and give them scope for creative expressions.
Mr. P Kannan Nair, Second Secretary (Consular) Indian Embassy, Muscat,graced the occasion as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He was given a red carpet welcome at the school entrance by the members of SMC, the Principal, staff and students followed by the guard of honour by the student council led by the Head boy Mast. AbhijayAnoop and Head girl Ms. Lindsey R. Macedo.
The Principal, V S Suresh, extended a warm welcome to everyone. During his speech, he expressed his sincere thanks to His majesty Sultan Qaboosbin Said. He thanked all the parents and teachers for their efforts and hard work. He advised the students to build their confidence by taking part in the cultural events. He also congratulated all the winners and imparted the knowledge that winning is not important but to take part holds success. Next, Dr. Thomas Varghese, the President of SMC, greeted the chief guest, other dignitaries and the audience. He thanked the former presidents, members of the SMC for their sincere contributions and welcomed each one for the 27th Arts Festival.He thanked the chief guest whole heartedly for gracing the occasion. He said that the school has set standards and goals in the area of academics, sports, discipline, leadership and more. He referred to the Arts Festival as a show case for the development of the mind and body.

The chief guest thanked the SMC for giving him an opportunity to visit Ibri. He sincerely thanked His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for his generosity in allowing us to follow Indian culture in the Sultanate of Oman. He exhorted the Indian community members of Ibri to be grateful to the founders of the school who underwent enormous difficulties in establishing the school. Moreover, he firmly believed that the school is an example for international cooperation by giving admissions to foreign students and promoting awareness of multiple cultures. Finally, he wished all the participants & winners of the arts festival.
On Thursday the 27th Arts Festival ceremony was inaugurated by the Head Girl Ms. LincyR Macedo,by lighting the traditional lamp. Master Levin RMacedo, the deputy head boy welcomed the gathering,Master Dennis Suresh, the prefect of Yellow House compered the programme and Master Sreyams Sunil, the prefect of Blue House proposed the vote of thanks.
The competitions were done in four days.In the morning of the5thSaturday,recitation, extempore, elocution mimicry and monoact were the highlight.In the morning of the 19th, Saturdaythe artistic talents of the children like western vocal, Indian vocal, Indian classical song, Instrumental Music, group song, fancy dress,extempore,etc, were performed. On25thFriday,solodance creative and solo dancefolk for the students were held.The final day, on26th Saturday, the events like Solo dance semi classical, mime and group dance mesmerized the audience.
The Chief Guest & other dignitaries gave away the prizes to the winners. The winner’s trophy for the 27th Arts Festival was lifted by the Green House and the Runners’ up by the Blue House. The President of SMC, Dr. Thomas Varghese and the principal presented the chief guest with a memento. All the students who excelled in the recent inter school Oman cluster sports events were felicitated with a memento. The physical education teachers, Mr. Biju Das and Mrs. Bini Sarah Samuel who had gone an extra mile were felicitated with memento.
The audience and the students were enthralled by various cultural events, starting with junior and senior students dance performances. The auditorium was hypnotized by the impeccableshow. The special dance performance by Ms. V Angelina Aishwarya was a real entertainment for the audience. The evening concluded with the singing of the School anthem. Mrs. Naga Subhashini, Senior Faculty proposed vote of thanks. The visiting dignitaries, parents & students left the venue with fond memories of having spent a wonderful evening.
